Brisbane Broncos Defeat Parramatta Eels in Thrilling Comeback
The Brisbane Broncos secured a crucial victory against the Parramatta Eels, winning 30-24 in a thrilling match at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night. This victory kept the Broncos’ finals hopes alive, while the Eels continued to struggle this season.
The game started poorly for the Broncos, who were trailing 16-0 just 11 minutes in due to a quick scoring spree by the Eels. Will Penisini, Joe Ofahengaue, and Maika Sivo each scored tries, leaving the home crowd in shock.
However, the tide turned as Broncos’ fullback Tristan Sailor initiated the comeback with a try in the 32nd minute. Following this, tries from Josh Rogers and Selwyn Cobbo quickly brought the Broncos back into contention. The contest intensified as Adam Reynolds capitalized on a loose pass, scoring an intercept try that gave the Broncos their first lead.
With five consecutive tries, the Broncos took a commanding position, but the Eels were not done yet. Shaun Lane managed to score in the closing minutes, but the Broncos held firm to secure the win.
The result leaves the Broncos just outside the top eight, needing to win their last two matches against the Dolphins and Storm to keep their playoff hopes alive. Conversely, the Eels face a battle against the Wests Tigers in the upcoming round to avoid the wooden spoon.
