Brissett Makes Impressive Comeback with 76ers After G League Stint

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — Oshae Brissett has officially returned to the NBA, showcasing his skills with the Philadelphia 76ers after a brief stint in the G League. After being granted a hardship exception, Brissett signed a 10-day contract with the team and made an immediate impact in his first two games.
In his debut against the Indiana Pacers, Brissett scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a solid 3-of-5 from beyond the arc in just 23 minutes of play. He continued his strong performance with 13 points against the Dallas Mavericks, where he shot 6-of-9 from the field in 25 minutes.
“Man, I mean, this morning I was doing my regular morning routine about to go get treatment, and then my agent called and told me, you have a flight in a couple of hours, so pack your bags and get ready,” Brissett said, reflecting on the fast pace of his signing and debut. “Then, I landed and thought I was going to the hotel to drop my bags off, but they said, ‘No, we’re going straight to the arena.’ I was like, all right, cool. Now we’re here.”
Brissett, 26, previously played for the Boston Celtics, where he was part of the team that won the 2024 NBA Finals. He opted out of his player option this season in search of a broader role elsewhere. However, he found himself out of the league until recently joining the Long Island Nets in the G League.
Regardless of the outcome of his current contract with the 76ers, Brissett is taking advantage of the playing time to showcase his talent. His recent performances in the NBA are garnering attention, and he is determined to remain in the league.
BOSTON, Massachusetts — Meanwhile, in Boston, former Celtics guard Svi Mykhailiuk received a warm welcome from his old teammates as he returned to face them with the Utah Jazz. Mykhailiuk, who secured a guaranteed deal with the Jazz after a season with the Celtics, summarized his experience with his former team in one word: “Winning.”
“A lot of winning. I feel like that’s the main memory. Just being part of the team, doing everything the right way, and the togetherness of the team,” he said prior to the game.
At 27, Mykhailiuk is now one of the veteren players on a young Jazz team currently struggling through a difficult season, noted for holding a 15-50 record and losing their last six games. Jazz head coach Will Hardy praised Mykhailiuk’s professional attitude and influence on younger teammates.
“He’s such a smart player. He’s very competitive. He’s a good teammate,” Hardy remarked. “His experience after being in this environment is really helpful for our young players because he has seen and felt where we want to go.”
During his season with the Celtics, Mykhailiuk gained valuable insights that he now shares with his current teammates. He highlighted the significance of team chemistry and the dedication needed to achieve success in the NBA.
As the Celtics faced the Miami Heat, Jayson Tatum led the team, scoring 28 points, propelling Boston to a 103-91 victory. Despite an uneven performance, he managed to balance his contributions on a challenging night.
“It is overlooked, but it’s overlooked because that’s just the type of person that he is,” Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla remarked about Jayson Tatum’s effort on the court. “I’m glad he was aggressive, and he was able to build through it.”
As the NBA season continues, both Brissett and Mykhailiuk are striving to solidify their positions in the league, with their experiences now intertwining with the evolving narratives of their respective teams.
