Broncos Sign Lil’Jordan Humphrey to One-Year Deal Amid Changes

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos have reached an agreement with wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey on a one-year contract, the team announced on Wednesday. Humphrey, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 225 pounds, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from the University of Texas in 2019.
During his three-year tenure under head coach Sean Payton, Humphrey accumulated 16 receptions for 295 yards and three touchdowns, appearing in 18 games. After a stint with the New Orleans Saints, Humphrey played for the Patriots in the 2022 season. There, he caught two passes for 20 yards over six appearances.
With Payton’s return to coaching in 2023, Humphrey seized the opportunity to reunite with his former coach, signing with the Broncos as a free agent. For the past two seasons, Humphrey has contributed significantly to the team’s offense, dressing for all 17 games each season. Over that period, he recorded 44 receptions for 455 yards and four touchdowns.
Payton has publicly lauded Humphrey, highlighting his versatility and commitment, particularly his willingness to play as a blocker for running and screen plays. However, it has been confirmed that Humphrey will not return to Denver in 2025, raising questions about the trajectory of the team’s receiving corps.
As the Broncos look ahead, they will be moving forward with a group of wide receivers that includes Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Devaughn Vele, Troy Franklin, and Trent Sherfield. There is also potential for the team to bolster its depth during the upcoming NFL draft, as they track free agency changes closely.
