Cleveland Browns 2025 Nfl Draft Strategy

The Cleveland Browns, holding the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, are weighing their options as speculation grows about their interest in top quarterback prospects. With Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward leading the QB class, the Browns could either select a franchise quarterback or trade down to address other roster needs.

In a recent mock draft by ESPN, analyst Charles McDonald projected a potential trade scenario where the Browns would move down from the No. 2 spot, allowing the Las Vegas Raiders to jump up and select Sanders. In return, the Browns would acquire additional draft capital and select LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell to bolster their offensive line.

McDonald explained the rationale behind the trade, stating, ‘After firing Antonio Pierce, the Raiders trade up to get their hands on a franchise quarterback, which they desperately need. Another season of Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew II isn’t tenable, so the Raiders grab Sanders to lead their franchise for the next few years.’

The Browns’ decision will hinge on their evaluation of Sanders and Ward, as well as their confidence in current quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has struggled with consistency and injuries since joining the team. Cleveland’s aging roster, particularly on the defensive line, also adds pressure to maximize their draft assets.

If the Browns opt to trade down, they could target multiple positions of need, including offensive line, defensive tackle, and wide receiver. The team’s front office, led by general manager Andrew Berry, has a history of making bold moves in the draft, and this year could be no different.

The 2025 NFL Draft, set to take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin, will be a pivotal moment for the Browns as they look to rebuild and compete in a highly competitive AFC North division.
