Browns Sign Teven Jenkins to Boost Offensive Line Depth

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns have signed former Chicago Bears offensive guard Teven Jenkins as part of their efforts to strengthen the offensive line ahead of the upcoming NFL season.
Jenkins, a 6-foot-6, 321-pound guard, is entering his fifth season in the NFL after being drafted by the Bears in the second round (39th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. Over his career, he has appeared in 45 games, accumulating 38 starts across multiple positions on the offensive line, including left tackle, left guard, and right guard.
Last season, Jenkins played a significant role for the Bears, starting 14 games at left guard. He concluded the 2024 season with an impressive Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade of 75.4, showcasing strengths of 75.8 in pass blocking and 74.3 in run blocking, according to reports.
“We believe Teven has the capability to enhance our offensive line and bring valuable experience,” said a Browns spokesperson. “His versatility and solid run-blocking ability will be crucial as we build our team for the season.”
Jenkins, who played four seasons at Oklahoma State before entering the NFL, opted out of the 2020 season after just seven games but was recognized as an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection in both 2018 and 2019. With the Bears, he shifted roles from right guard to left guard, demonstrating adaptability on the field.
Despite his skills, Jenkins’ career has been marred by injuries, including concussions and hip and calf issues, limiting his snap count in recent seasons. In 2024, he logged just 738 snaps but remained a key contributor when on the field. However, the Browns are optimistic about his potential impact, especially given their previous success in revamping their offensive front.
This signing also follows previous moves by the Browns to shore up their offensive lineup, including the signing of other players and a restructuring of existing contracts to better accommodate the 2025 roster.
With Jenkins now part of the roster, the Browns’ offensive line incorporates experienced players like Wyatt Teller, Joel Bitonio, and new addition Zak Zinter. This heightened competition within the interior offensive line may lead to strategic adjustments as the Browns prepare for the upcoming season.
The contract details for Jenkins have yet to be disclosed, leaving fans eager to see how this acquisition will affect team dynamics and their performance going forward.
