Browns Trade Picks with Texans Ahead of NFL Draft

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans have completed a trade involving several draft picks ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. The deal was announced on April 24, 2025, and it focuses on consolidating draft positions for both teams.
The Browns received a fifth-round pick in 2025 (No. 166) and another fifth-round pick in 2027 from the Texans. In exchange, the Texans received Cleveland’s sixth-round picks Nos. 179 and 216, as well as the seventh-round pick No. 255 in the upcoming draft.
This trade allows the Browns to enhance their draft strategy, moving up in the selection order while still maintaining a substantial number of picks. Cleveland now holds a total of eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, including the highly coveted No. 2 overall selection. In addition to that, they possess picks Nos. 33, 67, 94, 104, 192, and 200.
The Texans, on the other hand, have increased their inventory of draft picks, presenting them with more flexibility to either select players or make further trades. This move reflects both teams’ efforts to optimize their rosters and prepare for the upcoming season.
As the NFL’s free agency period evolves, teams are active in making strategic moves ahead of the draft. The Browns’ trade with the Texans emphasizes their commitment to building a competitive roster.
