Bruce Pearl’s Journey: Love, Redemption, and Auburn’s Rise

**AUBURN, Ala.** — As Bruce Pearl gears up for another high-stakes season as head coach of the Auburn Tigers men’s basketball team, he is supported by his wife, Brandy Pearl. Following a successful coaching career marked by redemption, Pearl is not only poised to be the winningest coach in Auburn history but also has a strong family foundation behind him.
Bruce Pearl’s professional life has been a rollercoaster, marked by both highs and lows. His tenure at Tennessee came to a controversial end, resulting in a three-year show-cause penalty from the NCAA for lying during an investigation. Despite the setback, Auburn University took a chance on Pearl, hiring him in 2014. At his introductory press conference, he spoke optimistically about revitalizing the program: “I’m humbled and blessed to be back in the game that I love. I don’t know how long it will take, but it’s time to rebuild the Auburn basketball program…”
Since his arrival, Pearl has delivered impressive results, leading the Tigers to six NCAA Tournament appearances, four Southeastern Conference (SEC) regular-season titles, and two SEC Tournament championships. He continues to drive the team forward, now aiming for his second Final Four appearance as they prepare to face Michigan State.
Brandy Pearl, a native of Sevierville, Tennessee, has been a constant source of support during both personal and professional hardships. The couple married in 2009, shortly after Bruce’s divorce from his first wife, Kim Shrigley. Brandy reflected on their partnership: “I think God put him in my life because we just complement each other very well. We understand each other and we make it work. We’re a good team.”
Both Bruce and Brandy have a strong love for animals, which inspired them to co-own two pet-focused businesses: Zoom to Groom, a mobile pet grooming service, and Grove Bark Inn, a luxury dog resort. Brandy expressed her passion for their venture, stating, “I was a client before I became a partner… And an extended grooming trip can be stressful for the dog.”
Their businesses not only serve the community but foster a space for their shared love for pets. Bruce remarked humorously, “Brandy actually prefers dogs to people. I have a love of pets, but I have a lot more love for my wife.” Together, they have created a supportive, successful, and loving family environment.
Brandy is also a devoted stepmother to Bruce’s four children: daughters Jacqui and Leah, as well as sons Steven and Michael. Steven, following in his father’s footsteps, serves as an assistant coach on the Auburn staff, continuing the family’s basketball legacy. Bruce often showcases his pride for his family on social media, illustrating how family remains a core value for him.
The Auburn community recognizes the Pearls for their dedication, both on and off the court. While Bruce continues to focus on coaching and improving the Auburn basketball program, Brandy remains an essential part of the journey, providing unwavering support and leadership in their business ventures.
As they approach another season, the partnership between Bruce and Brandy Pearl exemplifies resilience, teamwork, and love. With a bright future ahead, the Auburn community eagerly watches this power couple’s contributions to both basketball and local business.
