Bryce James Commits to Arizona Wildcats for 2025
Bryce James, the younger son of NBA superstar LeBron James, has committed to the University of Arizona Wildcats as part of their 2025 recruiting class. The 17-year-old guard made the announcement on social media on New Year’s Day, posting a photo with the caption “100% committed.”
A four-star prospect from Sierra Canyon High School in California, Bryce James chose Arizona over offers from Ohio State and Duquesne. He recently took an unofficial visit to Arizona, where he will join a program known for developing guards under head coach Tommy Lloyd.
James, who stands at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, averaged 6.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 14 games last spring with the Strive For Greatness grassroots program on the Nike EYBL circuit. He shot 39% from the field and 36.8% from 3-point range, showcasing his potential as a perimeter threat.
His older brother, Bronny James, played one season at USC before being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Bronny’s journey was marked by a cardiac arrest incident during a team workout, which impacted his freshman season.
Bryce James is the second commitment for Arizona’s 2025 class, joining Dwayne Aristode, a five-star wing who signed with the Wildcats in November. Arizona is also targeting other top prospects, including Brayden Burries (No. 8 in the ESPN 100) and Koa Peat (No. 10), as they aim to build a strong recruiting class.
According to recruiting analyst Adam Finkelstein, Bryce James has a solid foundation but will need time to develop. “Bryce needs to be given time and space to run his own race,” Finkelstein said. “He may not be the dynamic athlete or playmaker some expect at first, but he is a fundamentally sound player with solid perimeter size and a good early skill-set.”
With his commitment, Bryce James brings both talent and attention to the Arizona Wildcats, as the program looks to continue its success under Tommy Lloyd’s leadership.
