San Francisco, Calif. – Bryce McGowens hit a decisive three-pointer to propel Team G League to a first-round victory over Team M in the NBA Rising Stars tournament on Friday night at Chase Center. The win sets Team G League up for a championship match against Team C later the same evening.
McGowens, who plays predominantly for the Rip City Remix, finished the game with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. His performance marked a pivotal moment in the contest, securing Team G League’s advancement in the tournament. “That shot felt right, and I’m glad it helped us win,” McGowens said post-game.
Team M was led by Camara, who started the game and contributed eight points and two rebounds. However, their chances were hindered by the absence of Scoot Henderson, a forward and guard for the Blazers, due to an ankle injury. “We trained hard for this, but injuries happen, and we have to adapt,” Camara stated.
The Rising Stars Challenge has introduced a new format this year, showcasing young talents in a competitive atmosphere. Fans will be eager to see how Team G League performs against Team C, especially after their exciting finish in the first round.
The tournament is set during the buildup to the 2025 NBA All-Star Game weekend, which includes the Skills Challenge, 3-Point Contest, and Dunk Contest all happening on Saturday night. Following the Rising Stars Challenge, the All-Star Game will feature teams formed by NBA legends and current stars, adding an extra layer of excitement for basketball followers.
As the NBA shifts its focus toward engaging younger players through events like the Rising Stars tournament, the legacy of past winners and memorable moments continues to inspire new generations of athletes.
