Bryce Young to Start for Panthers Against Broncos After Andy Dalton’s Car Accident Injury
Bryce Young is set to return as the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers in their upcoming game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. This decision comes after Andy Dalton, who had been leading the team since Young was benched in Week 3, sustained a sprained right thumb in a car accident on Tuesday.
According to Panthers head coach Dave Canales, Dalton was involved in the car crash while traveling with his wife, their three children, and a dog. Fortunately, everyone in the vehicle was reported to be okay, except for Dalton’s thumb injury. Canales described the incident as “a frightening moment” but assured that “everyone came out fine” and “everyone is healthy,” except for Dalton’s injury.
Dalton had taken over as the starter after Young’s poor performances in the early season. Despite an initial success with Dalton, who led the Panthers to their only victory of the 2024 season with 319 yards and three touchdowns against the Raiders on September 22, his performance had declined in recent games. However, due to the injury, Young will now reclaim his starting position.
Young began the 2024 season as the Panthers’ starter but was benched after two disappointing outings. His return to the starting lineup comes as the team prepares to face the Broncos, marking a significant development in the Panthers’ quarterback situation).
