Buccaneers Activate Luke Goedeke’s Practice Window Amid Injury Struggles
TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received encouraging news on Monday as offensive tackle Luke Goedeke activated his 21-day practice window, signaling a potential return from injured reserve. Goedeke has been sidelined since Week 2 due to a re-aggravated foot injury, leaving a significant gap on the Buccaneers’ offensive line.
With Goedeke absent, the Bucs have struggled, particularly in the pass-blocking department. Right tackle Charlie Heck, who replaced Goedeke, has been criticized for his performance, allowing 32 pressures this season, the most for any tackle with qualifying snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. His struggles have impacted the right guard position, leading to inconsistent play along the line.
Goedeke’s return could greatly improve the offensive line’s performance. Last season, he allowed just 17 pressures, a stark contrast to Heck’s current struggles. The Buccaneers desperately need his stability before their next game.
While it remains unclear when Goedeke will return, he has three weeks from Monday to make his comeback, which could be as early as this Sunday against the New England Patriots or as late as the game against the Los Angeles Rams on November 23.
The Buccaneers will provide more information on Goedeke’s status following their first practice after the bye week this Wednesday.
