Buccaneers Extend Contracts of Coach Todd Bowles and GM Jason Licht

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht to multiyear contract extensions, the team announced Thursday.
Buccaneers owner Joel Glazer expressed confidence in their leadership, saying, “Jason and Todd’s leadership has been critical to our organization’s success. The winning culture they have established has us well positioned for the future.”
The extension for Bowles spans three seasons, which will keep him with the team through the 2028 season. Bowles enters his fourth season as head coach, having a record of 27-24 and leading the team to three consecutive NFC South titles from 2022 to 2024.
Bowles stated, “I am excited to continue working with Jason for years to come as we build on the success we’ve enjoyed and keep reaching for even bigger and better goals. My family loves Tampa and we’re looking forward to delivering more great moments for our fans in the coming seasons.”
Licht, who is in his 12th season with the Buccaneers, is notably the NFL’s fifth-longest tenured general manager. Under his leadership, the Bucs finished the previous season at 10-7, though they were eliminated in the NFC wild-card game.
He expressed gratitude towards the Glazer family for their support, saying, “I am very grateful to the Glazer Family for the trust and belief they have shown in what we are doing here. I am also very excited to continue working alongside Todd well into the future as we continue our mission of finding and developing talented players and chasing additional championships for our fans.”
Since 2014, Tampa Bay leads the NFL in total snaps and starts by homegrown players drafted in Rounds 1-5. Under Bowles’ guidance, the Buccaneers’ defense has ranked among the NFL’s best, leading in key statistics like rushing defense and fumble recoveries.
Overall, Bowles holds a head coaching record of 53-65, including previous tenures with the New York Jets.
