Buccaneers RB Rachaad White Fined for Helmet Hit Against Lions
TAMPA BAY, Fla. — Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White has been fined $46,371 for a helmet-to-helmet hit during a game against the Detroit Lions, marking the largest fine in NFL Week 8.
The incident occurred during the Monday night game, where White made contact with Lions safety Erick Hallett. Although no penalty was called during the game, replay footage confirmed a violation of NFL rules regarding improper use of the helmet.
According to NFL guidelines, it is a foul if a player lowers his head and makes forcible contact with an opponent using his helmet. The rules apply equally to both offensive and defensive players.
This hefty fine is partly due to White being a repeat offender; he was previously fined $45,020 last season for a similar incident against the Las Vegas Raiders.
This year, first-time helmet infractions are fined $23,186, but repeat offenses carry a penalty of $46,371, making it one of the highest fines for game day violations.
In the same game, Lions defensive end Tyrus Wheat received a fine of $5,722 for an uncalled tripping infraction during a late sack against the Buccaneers.
Looking ahead, the Buccaneers are set to play the Lions again, and they hope to have key players back in the lineup to continue their strong performance this season.
