Tampa Bay Buccaneers Guard Ben Bredeson

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced they have re-signed offensive guard Ben Bredeson to a three-year, $22 million contract, as reported by NFL Network on Monday. The move secures one of last season’s standout players for the upcoming 2025 season.

Bredeson, 27, joined the Buccaneers last year from the New York Giants, where he played various positions on the offensive line during an injury-plagued season for the team. He started all 17 regular-season games for Tampa Bay, contributing significantly to their improved rushing attack, which increased from a league-worst 1,509 yards in 2023 to 2,536 yards in 2024, ranking fourth in the NFL.

“Bringing back Ben was a top priority for us this offseason,” said Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht. “His ability to play multiple positions along the line and his performance last year solidified his role as a key contributor to our offense.”

Last season, Bredeson consistently posted impressive statistics, including a run block win rate of 70.5%, ranking 19th among guards who recorded over 1,000 offensive snaps. His pass block win rate of 91.6% ranked him 17th in the league. Despite allowing 10 total sacks, which tied him for 22nd among offensive linemen, Bredeson’s overall impact on the team’s performance was undeniable.

Previously signed on a one-year, $3.5 million deal, Bredeson’s quick rise to a three-year deal worth $22 million reflects the growing demand for skilled guards in the NFL, particularly as the Buccaneers aim to maintain their strong offensive line.

The Buccaneers’ decision to keep Bredeson ensures continuity along the offensive front, where they aim to replicate the success realized in the 2024 season. The team’s offensive line was lauded for its effectiveness, protecting quarterback Baker Mayfield and supporting a powerful ground game. Bredeson’s experience and chemistry with his teammates are likely to benefit the team’s 2025 campaign under new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard.

Tampa Bay has also taken steps to secure other key players ahead of the free agency period, including linebacker Lavonte David, who re-signed for one year, and safety Kaevon Merriweather, who returns on a developmental contract.

As the NFL’s legal tampering period begins, the Buccaneers are focused on retaining their core players and potentially making additional signings to bolster their roster. Keeping Bredeson is part of a larger strategy to enhance team performance as they gear up for the upcoming season.
