Bucks Defeat Pacers 117-101, Cutting Series Lead to 2-1

MILWAUKEE, WI (AP) — The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Indiana Pacers 117-101 on Friday night, cutting the Pacers’ lead in the Eastern Conference playoff series to 2-1. Both Gary Trent Jr. and Giannis Antetokounmpo starred for the Bucks, each scoring 37 points.
The Bucks faced a 57-47 deficit at halftime, but a strong third quarter, where they outscored the Pacers 39-18, turned the game in their favor. Trent kicked off the second half with three quick 3-pointers to tie the game at 62.
“We knew we had to come out strong in the second half,” said Trent. “Our defensive intensity picked up, and that really set the tone.”
The game saw a reversal of fortunes for Milwaukee, who had struggled early in the series. They finished the game shooting 11 of 18 from three-point range after only making 4 of 23 in the first half.
Anetokounmpo contributed not only with scoring but also by snagging 12 rebounds, showcasing his all-around game. “I just try to do whatever it takes to win,” he said. “Tonight, it was about stepping up after a tough first half.”
Indiana took charge in the first half, with Pascal Siakam leading their scoring with 28 points, while Aaron Nesmith added 18. The Pacers held the momentum until the Bucks made their second-half turnaround.
After a close battle in the third quarter, Milwaukee was ahead 86-75 going into the final period. The Bucks extended their lead to as much as 22 points in the fourth quarter, asserting their dominance.
“They came out firing,” said Pacers coach Rick Carlisle. “We couldn’t match their energy in the second half.”
With the win, the Bucks have momentum on their side, heading into Game 4 at home on Sunday. Behind the performances of Trent and Antetokounmpo, the team seems poised to even the series.
“We have to keep this fire going,” Trent added. “We can’t let up now.”
