Bucks’ Playoff Hopes Dwindle After Loss to Pacers in Game 2

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Milwaukee Bucks faced a daunting challenge on Tuesday night as they battled against the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of their first-round NBA playoff series. All-Star guard Damian Lillard made his return after a month away due to a health scare, hoping to provide his team with a much-needed lift.
Lillard had reached out to coach Doc Rivers in the morning, confirming he would be back on the court for the crucial game. Despite his efforts, the Bucks fell further behind in the series, trailing 2-0 after the Pacers took control early and maintained their lead throughout the game.
Pascal Siakam was instrumental for Indiana, scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, including a pivotal three-pointer that ignited a decisive run. His teammate Tyrese Haliburton contributed significantly with 21 points and 12 assists. “He’s been a steady presence for us all year, so glad that he’s on our team,” Haliburton said, praising Siakam’s consistency.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with a strong performance, racking up 34 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists. However, after experiencing a hot start, he noted the importance of playing with greater urgency. “It’s kind of hard to play from behind,” he said, emphasizing that the Bucks needed to establish their rhythm earlier in the game.
The Bucks, who lost despite a solid showing from Bobby Portis Jr., who scored 28 points, struggled to regain momentum against a Pacers team that seems to have their number in recent matchups. The Pacers have now won five of the last six playoff games against the Bucks, proving difficult to overcome.
Both teams displayed intensity throughout the game, leading to technical fouls and a physical battle, described as one of the most exciting playoff games of the season. The next clash between these rivals is set for Friday in Milwaukee, as the Bucks aim to halt the Pacers’ advance in the series.
