Budget 2024 Date Confirmed by FM Sitharaman for July 23 or 24, Monsoon Session to Coincide

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has officially confirmed the date for the presentation of Budget 2024, scheduled for July 23 or 24. This announcement aligns with the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Parliament, expected to commence on July 22.

During the recently inaugurated first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, Om Birla secured re-election as the Lok Sabha Speaker for a second term, defeating the opposition’s candidate Kodikunnil Suresh through a voice vote. The Monsoon Session of the Parliament is slated to extend until August 9.

On June 22, Sitharaman led discussions at the 53rd GST Council meeting, focusing on proposals to streamline GST applications for goods and services. The meeting resulted in significant recommendations for refining tax rates and service exemptions within the GST framework.
