Shaq Lawson Buffalo Bills Tryout

ORCHARD PARK, New York — The Buffalo Bills are making adjustments as the NFL season progresses. On Monday, they hosted defensive end Shaq Lawson for a tryout at One Bills Drive. Lawson, a former first-round draft pick of the Bills, was the only player to audition that day.

The 31-year-old Lawson’s last NFL appearance was on October 20, 2024, when he played 14 snaps for the Carolina Panthers. After being released shortly thereafter, he has remained a free agent, looking for an opportunity to return to the field.

As the Bills face challenges, particularly with their defensive line, Lawson could provide much-needed support if signed. The Bills are currently struggling to produce a consistent pass rush, as shown by a modest sack total from their 2025 season.

Leading the team in sacks is Joey Bosa, who has only 4.0, hampered by a wrist injury that has limited his effectiveness. Lawson has an impressive track record with 26.0 career sacks and 77 quarterback hits over his career, making him a strong candidate for bolstering their defense.

This potential move comes at a critical time, especially with Buffalo’s front four failing to deliver in key moments of recent games. Despite the Bills’ struggles, Lawson’s experience and versatility may help them get back on track.

As the team prepares for a matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bills (7-4) are aware that they need all the help they can get. The Steelers have also faced difficulties this season, creating a closely matched competition for both teams. With the playoffs on the line, every game counts.

As the roster continues to evolve, the Bills hope to find solutions that will aid quarterback Josh Allen and his offense, which has suffered during away games this season, averaging significantly lower points than at home.
