Bulldogs Crush Kangaroos in Big Win
The Western Bulldogs had a fantastic day on the field, blowing away the North Melbourne Kangaroos by a whopping 96 points. The game ended with a score of 20.18 (138) to 6.6 (42).
In the first quarter, North Melbourne managed to keep up, scoring three goals, but from then on, they struggled and could only manage one more goal for the rest of the match. This left the Kangaroos facing a tough defeat.
Sam Darcy was the star of the day, kicking an impressive seven goals for the Bulldogs. Despite the huge win, the Dogs still had moments of inaccuracy that caused some concern.
After this victory, the Bulldogs secured their place in the finals, sitting in sixth place, and will look to solidify this when they face GWS in Ballarat next Saturday.
The Bulldogs’ forward line was a sight to behold. Although the matchup against North Melbourne was tight just weeks ago, they really found their groove in this game. Jack Riewoldt, a three-time Richmond premiership player, noted how the young key forwards significantly improved their game, creating numerous scoring opportunities.
It wasn’t just Darcy who shone. Adam Treloar and Marcus Bontempelli had a strong presence in the midfield, racking up a combined 62 disposals along with nine clearances. Other players like Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Cody Weightman, Ed Richards, Aaron Naughton, and Jack Macrae also contributed multiple goals.
However, it was a tough day for North Melbourne, who faced injury challenges that limited their ability to compete. Charlie Comben and Miller Bergman were sidelined after suffering concussions, and Nick Larkey played with a sore leg after a hard tackle.
The first quarter started with a goal from North’s full-forward, Nick Larkey, but Sam Darcy quickly responded. The teams traded goals until the Bulldogs gradually pulled ahead, leading to a big halftime advantage.
In the second half, the Bulldogs continued to dominate. Sam Darcy was particularly impressive, with most of his goals coming early in the game. By the final quarter, he had tied his own career-best with seven goals, showcasing his talent and strength on the field.
This match highlighted the Bulldogs’ potential as they aim for a successful run in the finals, while North Melbourne will look to recover from a challenging season.
