Bulldogs Secure Key Transfers to Strengthen Roster Ahead of Next Season

ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia Bulldogs added three new players to their roster during the spring transfer portal window on Sunday, including one of the top linebackers available. Outside linebacker Modozie, running back McCray, and defensive lineman Horton have all signed with the program, multiple sources confirmed to ESPN.
Modozie, ranked as the No. 8 player in the transfer portal, had a standout year for the Black Knights in 2024. He recorded a team-high 6.5 sacks and was recognized with third-team All-American Athletic Conference honors as the team finished the season with 12 wins.
McCray, who previously played for the Illinois Fighting Illini, was the leading rusher last season, accumulating 609 yards with an average of 5.2 yards per carry and totaling 11 touchdowns. The Bulldogs had been in search of an experienced running back to support rising sophomore talent and see McCray as a strong fit for their offensive strategy.
Horton, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound defensive lineman, comes to the Bulldogs after spending two seasons at Miami. He played a total of 58 snaps over eight games for the Hurricanes, demonstrating the depth and size he can add to Georgia’s defensive front.
The Bulldogs, who are the defending Southeastern Conference champions, are aiming to reload their roster after a disappointing first-round exit in last season’s College Football Playoff. Earlier this year, Georgia brought in six transfers, prominently featuring wide receivers that are expected to bolster their offensive lineup.
As head coach Kirby Smart continues to adapt his team’s composition, these new additions aim to enhance Georgia’s competitive edge in the upcoming college football season.
