Chicago Bulls Vs New York Knicks January 4 2025

CHICAGO — Coby White made a career-high nine 3-pointers and scored 33 points, while Zach LaVine also contributed 33 points as the Chicago Bulls defeated the New York Knicks 139-126 on Saturday night at the United Center. The victory capped off a celebratory day for the Bulls, who honored Derrick Rose at halftime after announcing his jersey retirement earlier in the day.

White’s remarkable shooting performance included 9-of-11 from beyond the arc, while LaVine delivered his third 30-point game in the past four outings. Nikola Vucevic added 22 points and 12 rebounds, and DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. The Bulls overcame a sluggish first half, outscoring the Knicks 41-17 in the third quarter to turn a nine-point halftime deficit into a commanding 104-89 lead.

The Knicks, who entered the game on a nine-game winning streak, were led by Julius Randle‘s 44 points and 16 rebounds. Jalen Brunson scored 33 points, and Mitchell Robinson grabbed 16 rebounds. Despite their efforts, New York suffered its second consecutive loss, marking the third time this season they have dropped back-to-back games.

The Bulls’ dominance in the third quarter proved decisive. After tying the game at 84, Chicago went on a 20-5 run over the final four minutes of the period, sparked by a layup from Vucevic. The team finished the game shooting 20-of-37 from 3-point range, a key factor in their victory.

At halftime, the Bulls honored Derrick Rose, a Chicago native and former MVP, announcing that his No. 1 jersey will be retired alongside franchise legends Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Jerry Sloan, and Bob Love. The ceremony added an emotional touch to the evening, as fans celebrated one of the city’s most beloved basketball figures.

Both teams will return to action on Monday, with the Knicks hosting the Orlando Magic and the Bulls facing the San Antonio Spurs at home.
