Bundesliga Matchday Schedule Injuries

BERLIN, Germany — The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga announced the schedule for Matchdays 28-30 of both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 following the draw for the semi-finals of the DFB Cup on March 7, 2025. Key matches will take place on weekends in April, featuring prominent teams and crucial points on the line.

For Bundesliga Matchday 28, matches include Freiburg facing Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, April 5, at 3:30 p.m. CEST, followed by Werder Bremen against Eintracht Frankfurt at 6:30 p.m. CEST the same day. The following week, Matchday 29 will see Holstein Kiel take on St. Pauli on April 12 at 3:30 p.m. CEST, while Bayern Munich will host Borussia Dortmund later at 6:30 p.m. CEST.

The last weekend of fixtures for this segment, Matchday 30, features Mainz vs. Wolfsburg at 3:30 p.m. CEST and Union Berlin against VfB Stuttgart at 6:30 p.m. CEST on April 19. Additionally, Borussia Dortmund will play Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday, April 20, at 5:30 p.m. CEST.

In Bundesliga 2, notable Matchday 28 matches include Nuremberg hosting Hamburg at 1:00 p.m. CEST on April 5, and Cologne playing Hertha Berlin at 8:30 p.m. CEST the same day. For Matchday 29, Hannover will meet Elversberg on April 12 at 1:00 p.m. CEST, leading into Matchday 30 with Elversberg against Fortuna Düsseldorf at 1:00 p.m. CEST and Schalke taking on Hamburg at 8:30 p.m. CEST on April 19.

The DFL has confirmed that no matches will take place on Good Friday, April 18, due to the public holiday. Instead, fans can look forward to matches on Easter Sunday, with three Bundesliga and five Bundesliga 2 games scheduled for April 20.

Many teams, including Borussia Dortmund, face challenges as injuries impact their squad depth. Dortmund currently sits in 10th place, coming off mixed results including a recent draw with Lille in the UEFA Champions League. Coach Niko Kovač is managing squad fitness with notable absences, such as Felix Nmecha, who is recovering from a ligament injury.

“We need to focus on consistency,” Kovač said after their last match. “We have to capitalize on our home advantage to start climbing the table.”

Across town, FC Augsburg, who are 11th in the standings, will also be missing key players due to injuries, including Henri Koudossou and Mergim Berisha. Augsburg manager Jess Thorup expressed concern about his squad’s fitness as they prepare to visit Signal Iduna Park.

“Injuries are part of the game, but they challenge our depth significantly,” Thorup stated. “Every match is crucial if we want to move up in the standings.”

As the Bundesliga season progresses, both Borussia Dortmund and FC Augsburg look to improve their standings in upcoming matches, hoping to capitalize on every opportunity to secure valuable points before the season’s end.
