PROVO, Utah — BYU basketball is heating up with five consecutive victories, bolstered by the excitement surrounding prized recruit AJ Dybantsa. Smith’s tenure saw a lack of NCAA Tournament appearances since 2016, prompting speculation about his replacement and the future of the program.

Utah Athletics Director Mark Harlan stated, “We must reevaluate our approach, especially with the impending transition to the Big 12.” The hiring process for Smith’s successor is already underway, with candidates yet to be publicly revealed.
