Caitlin Clark Ncaa Championship Game Espn Alt Cast

NEW YORK, NY — Superstar Caitlin Clark appeared alongside former WNBA stars Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi on ESPN’s alternate broadcast during the NCAA championship game on April 6, 2025. The trio engaged in a lively discussion as the South Carolina vs. UConn game unfolded, covering topics ranging from NCAA Tournament memories to Taurasi’s retirement and the future of the WNBA.

One of the most talked-about moments was when Bird brought up a viral photo of Clark taken during Iowa‘s Big Ten Tournament game against Ohio State on March 8. The image sparked speculation about Clark’s offseason training.

“What are you focused on this offseason? There was the viral picture that went around showing off your guns,” Bird asked. “Everyone’s wondering, have you been hitting the weight room? Was it the camera angle? What happened there?”

Clark, who plays for the Indiana Fever, responded with a chuckle. “AI is getting out of control, come on,” she said, leaving it ambiguous whether she was joking. Regardless, she confirmed she had been committed to strength training during the offseason.

“I’m trying to get stronger, spend more time in the weight room,” Clark said. “It’s something I kind of enjoy, so it’s been pretty easy for me to spend time in there and work on that part of my game.”

Clark emphasized that enhancing her mid-range shooting is a key area for improvement. She noted that adding a floater to her already extensive three-point range will make her even more challenging to defend in the upcoming 2025 season.

“Going back to the weapons that we’ve added this year, there’s going to be so many different things that we’re able to do that it will make my life a little bit easier,” Clark told Bird and Taurasi, highlighting the arrival of WNBA six-time All-Star DeWanna Bonner to the Fever.

As the championship game proceeded, the discussion among Clark, Bird, and Taurasi provided a glimpse into the dedication and preparation that elite athletes put into their training. Clark’s focus on her offseason conditioning reflects her commitment to evolving as a player.
