Caleb Downs, a standout player for the Ohio State Buckeyes, has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the 2024 college football season. Downs has been named a finalist for the 34th annual College Football Awards, which will be aired live on December 12 at 9 p.m. on ESPN.
Downs, who has been a key figure in Ohio State’s defensive unit, is in contention for the Thorpe and Bednarik Awards. The Thorpe Award honors the best defensive back in college football, while the Bednarik Award recognizes the top defensive player overall.
This recognition comes on the heels of his impressive performances throughout the season, including a notable 79-yard punt return touchdown, highlighting his versatility and impact on the field.
Downs is not the only Gwinnett graduate to receive this honor; Travis Hunter, another notable player, has also been named a finalist for the College Football Awards. This acknowledgment underscores the talent and dedication of these athletes as they compete at the highest level of college football.
