Calvin Ridley Tennessee Titans Game Against Colts

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley voiced his discontent following the team’s 20-16 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Despite being targeted eight times, Ridley did not record a single catch, a statistic that has not occurred since 2015 when Amari Cooper of the Raiders had a similar performance against the Denver Broncos.

Ridley’s frustration was evident in his post-game comments, where he emphasized the need for earlier involvement in the game. “I need some in the beginning of the f—ing game too,” Ridley said. “This s–t is getting crazy. I sucked today and got to do better. But I got to get the ball a little earlier so I can be in the game and here with the team and play well also.”.

Titans coach Brian Callahan acknowledged the disappointment and the team’s failure to utilize Ridley effectively. Callahan stated that he wanted to ensure Ridley received the ball more, especially in the early stages of the game, but this did not materialize. “He’s one of our best players and we look to him to try and make a play or two and we didn’t get it done at the end of the game,” Callahan said.

Ridley’s recent performance has been underwhelming, with only two receptions for 14 yards over the last two games. Through five games this season, he has caught nine passes on 27 targets for 141 yards and one touchdown. This is below expectations, especially given his role as the team’s primary receiver alongside DeAndre Hopkins and Tyler Boyd after signing a one-year, $9.2 million free-agent deal during the offseason.

The Titans’ loss to the Colts dropped their record to 1-4, highlighting broader issues within the team’s offense. Ridley’s struggles reflect this, as no Titans player has more than 10 receptions, with running back Tony Pollard leading the team with 13 receptions.
