LOS ANGELES, CA — Cameron Brink, the Los Angeles Sparks’ promising star, is making significant strides in her recovery from a torn ACL sustained during her rookie season. ESPN’s Holly Rowe provided a positive update during the recent WNBA Draft, indicating that Brink is on track to return to the court by June, just before the All-Star break.

Brink’s rookie season was abruptly cut short after only 15 games, during which she averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game. Her block rate would have placed her second in the league, only behind A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. Despite the setback, Brink quickly became a fan favorite and proved to be a key defensive asset for the Sparks.

“Checking in with her and her people today, she said she’s doing really well in rehab,” Rowe reported. “She is blessed to be working with some of the best in the business. Sources close to the Sparks have mentioned that she’s likely to return around June. Cameron looks to be back on the court soon for the LA Sparks.”

Brink’s anticipated comeback by June aligns with the typical recovery timeline for an ACL injury, allowing her a full year to rehabilitate. This timeline is crucial for the Sparks, who hope her return will coincide with a push for the playoffs after missing postseason play for the last four years.

While recovering, Brink faced challenges, especially with her conditioning. “I went on a run the other day, running for four minutes and then walking for one minute,” Brink shared on her podcast, “Straight to Cam.” She candidly expressed the difficulties of relearning skills during her rehab transition.

Although she will miss much of her sophomore season, Brink’s return would provide a much-needed boost not just for the Sparks but also for her future plans to compete with the Lunar Owls in 2026. Should she indeed return by June, Brink will have ample time to finish her season and prepare for additional play.

Brink previously noted her adjustment to the practice environment, as the Sparks sought male practice players for additional competition. While she supports the inclusion of male players, Brink expressed concern over the harsh feedback often found on social media regarding such moves.

The LA Sparks ranked fifth in league attendance last season, averaging around 11,044 fans per game. As the Sparks continue preparations for the upcoming season, they look forward to welcoming back one of their most promising young talents. Brink’s recovery and return will not only energize the team but also enhance their chances of breaking free from their postseason drought.
