Cameron Brink Shines in SI Swimsuit Debut After ACL Injury

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Cameron Brink, a forward for the Los Angeles Sparks, is making headlines with her debut in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, following a challenging rookie season that ended prematurely due to an ACL tear. Brink, 23, was selected second overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and although her first season was cut short last June, she is now back in the spotlight, embodying resilience and empowerment.
During her photoshoot for the magazine, Brink spoke candidly about the struggles female athletes face regarding body image. “I think it’s always really hard to be a woman in this world, especially as a female athlete. Am I supposed to look more feminine? Am I supposed to look more athletic? What’s the balance?” she said. Brink emphasized that despite these pressures, she values her femininity and feels empowered by her achievements.
Brink’s shoot, which was photographed by Ben Horton, took place at the Boca Raton Resort. The athlete highlighted her mission to inspire younger generations through her platform. “When people look at these photos, I hope they take away that I’ve put a lot of work into my body,” she said, “and it’s hard to put your body out there, but also really empowering.”
Brink also reflected on the impact of previous generations of female athletes who paved the way for her success, including her mother. “I think you always have to look back at the women before you. I’m very thankful for those role models because we wouldn’t be where we are today without them,” she added.
The 2025 Sports Illustrated issue features an impressive lineup, including Olympic medalists and world champions, with Brink among them, further establishing her as a role model in sports.
Brink’s story resonates with many in the sports community who have rallied around her since her injury. Her journey not only highlights her athletic talent but also her commitment to empowering women in sports. As she prepares for her return to the court, Brink’s debut in Sports Illustrated marks a significant milestone in her journey.
