Cameron Norrie Tennis Match Madrid Open

MADRID, Spain — Cameron Norrie is set to face off against Spanish teenager Martin Landaluce in the opening round of the ATP Madrid Open on April 23, 2025. Norrie, currently ranked 91 in the world, is looking for a strong performance to elevate his disappointing 2025 season record of 5-9.

Landaluce, a wildcard entrant at the age of 19, is still searching for his first victory on the ATP Tour this season, having lost his last four matches. In contrast, Norrie’s experience on clay can work in his favor, especially as he recently secured victories over players like Hugo Gaston and Damir Dzumhur.

This matchup comes as both players prepare for the quick clay conditions of La Caja Mágica. Norrie believes utilizing his experience will help him through the pressure that Landaluce may bring, especially with the home crowd cheering for the young Spaniard.

“I know I need to be aggressive, especially against someone like Landaluce who will have the crowd behind him,” Norrie said. “I’ve had my struggles this year, but I believe in my game on clay, and I’m ready to make a run here.”

Landaluce made headlines at the start of the season by qualifying for the Australian Open, showcasing his potential. However, he remains untested at this level and is yet to find consistent form on clay, which has raised doubts about his chances against the Brit.

The match is expected to start at 9:15 AM ET. Betting markets currently favor Norrie to win in straight sets, aligning with recent predictions based on player performance data.

“Cameron has a 65% chance of winning this match according to simulations, while Landaluce sits at 35%,” said a data analyst from Dimers. “It’s going to be a test for both, but experience should prevail.”

The winner will advance to face Jiri Lehecka in the second round of the tournament.
