Cameron Norrie Reaches Moselle Open Semi-Finals in Hard-Fought Match
Metz, France — Cameron Norrie advanced to the semi-finals of the Moselle Open on Friday evening, defeating Kyrian Jacquet in a tightly contested match that lasted three sets. The world number 27 struggled but ultimately secured victory with a score of 4-6, 7-6(7-2), 6-4.
This victory marks Norrie’s third consecutive match needing three sets, signaling a determined effort as he seeks his first ATP title since winning the Rio Open in 2023. The only remaining seeded player in the draw, Norrie is looking to capitalize on this momentum heading into the semi-finals.
Norrie, 30, showed strong performance early in the match but faced challenges when a nosebleed interrupted his game. He initially led 4-1 in the first set before Jacquet, ranked 156th in the world, rallied back to claim the set. However, Norrie remained resilient, calling for a physio during a key moment in the second set, saving a break point before winning the tie-break convincingly.
Jacquet’s struggle with unforced errors ultimately sealed his fate, as he committed 48 throughout the match. Norrie capitalized on a critical break at 4-4 in the final set, allowing him to serve out for the match.
Looking ahead, Norrie will face Lorenzo Sonego in the semi-finals, anticipating a challenging battle for a spot in Saturday’s final. Meanwhile, in separate tournament action, Italian Lorenzo Musetti is also vying for a place in the season-ending ATP Finals, having reached the semi-finals of the Athens Open. Musetti must win the upcoming final to secure his spot, facing American Sebastian Korda next.
As the tournament progresses, the stage is set for an exciting finish this weekend in both Metz and Athens.
