It was a moment to remember for Team Canada as Philip Kim, better known as Wizard, snagged the gold medal in the Olympic debut of breaking.

The 27-year-old Canadian b-boy faced off against Dany Dann, the crowd favorite from France, in an exciting final held at La Concorde. By the end of the showdown, Wizard had the audience on its feet, clearly impressed by his incredible skills and unique style.

In a fantastic performance, Wizard dominated the three rounds. While he earned five votes in the opening round compared to Dann’s four, the following rounds saw a complete sweep, with Wizard taking all nine judges’ votes each time.

To reach the finals, Wizard had to battle against Shigekix, the top seed from Japan, in the semifinals. In that intense match, Wizard secured victory by getting the nod from the judges in all three rounds, finishing with a total of 17 votes against Shigekix’s 10. The first round was closely contested, but Wizard managed to win with a score of 5-4, followed by another strong showing at 6-3 in each of the next two rounds.

This semifinal win came on the heels of a powerful performance in the quarterfinals, where Wizard easily defeated Lee from the Netherlands with a score of 3-0, racking up 19 votes to 8.
