Canadian Skateboarder Cordano Russell Shines at Olympics
It’s an exciting time for Canadian athlete Cordano Russell, who is making waves at the Paris Olympics! At just 19 years old, he has jumped into the spotlight as a skateboarder.
Originally from London, Cordano’s family moved to the US when he was just four years old. This is where he discovered his passion for skateboarding. Interestingly, before fully committing to skating, he was also a promising American Football player.
Cordano showcased his skills at the 2023 WST Street World Championships held in Tokyo, where he achieved a historic fourth-place finish for Canada in men’s street skateboarding. This amazing feat helped him secure his spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
In June 2024, he kept up the momentum by finishing 10th in the second stop of the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest, which propelled him to rank 16th in the World Skateboarding Ranking. This made him the top Canadian Olympic qualifier in the men’s street event.
Cordano and three other skateboarders are representing Canada at the Games. Fans are excited to see how he performs in the men’s street prelims, which kicked off this Monday morning.
