Montreal Canadiens Vs Washington Capitals Game 3

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj is ready to return to the lineup for Game 3 against the Washington Capitals. Head coach Martin St-Louis confirmed the news, which brings enthusiasm to Canadiens fans looking for a more physical approach against the hard-hitting Capitals.

Xhekaj, 24, is set to make his playoff debut this evening. His last game was on April 6 against the Nashville Predators, where he played less than 10 minutes. Despite his limited ice time, some fans believe he strengthens the team’s defense when paired with Jayden Struble.

“The Sheriff Arber Xhekaj is in the building,” a fan account posted on Twitter, reflecting the excitement surrounding his return. However, Struble will not play alongside him and will be watching from the press box as a healthy scratch, according to Lajoie.

In the Canadian’s previous games this season, the team has not yet found their rhythm against the Capitals, who opened the series with aggressive play and physicality. St-Louis is keeping veteran defenseman David Savard in the lineup, despite calls for adjustments.

It was also reported that Miranda’s Brendan Gallagher was absent from practice for rest, after taking a hard hit during the previous game. Renaud Lavoie mentioned that Gallagher had taken a stick to the face, which went unpunished.

Though things are shifting in the lineup, Xhekaj’s participation could prove crucial if the Canadiens are to withstand the Capitals’ relentless strategy. With Gallagher’s status uncertain and Struble out, fans will be looking to see how the Canadiens adapt.

Jean-Charles Lajoie confirmed on Twitter what many are speculating: Xhekaj will be a key player in tonight’s game. “Sheriff = IN confirmed!” tweeted Lajoie, hinting at a likely win for the Canadiens in this matchup.
