Canelo Alvarez Terence Crawford Boxing Match

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will challenge Terence Crawford in a highly anticipated fight on September 12 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. This announcement follows Alvarez’s recent win over William Scull, where he regained the undisputed super-middleweight title.

In a lackluster match, Alvarez defeated Scull by unanimous decision, with judges scoring the bout 115-113, 116-112, and 119-109. Scull utilized a defensive strategy, avoiding significant exchanges throughout the 12 rounds, frustrating Alvarez in the process.

“It was a boring fight. A fighter not trying to win and just trying to survive. I hate those kind of fighters,” Alvarez said after the match. Despite the dull performance, Alvarez claimed victory and secured his status as a two-time undisputed champion.

Facing Crawford, a four-division and two-weight undisputed champion moving up from light-middleweight, Alvarez anticipates a more engaging showdown. Crawford expressed his ambition, stating, “In September, I’ll show the world what greatness looks like.” Both fighters exchanged words after the match, setting the stage for the upcoming bout.

Alvarez’s win allowed him to reclaim his IBF title, but he faced criticism for the lack of action in the ring. Promoter Oscar De La Hoya questioned Alvarez’s choice of opponent and insisted fans want to see him fight against tougher competitors like David Benavidez.

The matchup with Crawford is expected to break box office records, drawing significant attention from boxing fans worldwide. Alvarez emphasized the importance of the fight, noting, “Crawford is one of the best out there, and I like to share the ring with fighters like him.” As both fighters prepare for their clash, the boxing community eagerly awaits a thrilling contest.
