Canowindra’s Regan Hughes Set to Face Bulldogs in NRL Pre-Season Clash
Canowindra’s rising rugby league star, Regan Hughes, is gearing up to showcase his talents as he potentially faces off against a formidable Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs side in an NRL Pre-Season Challenge match for Melbourne Storm.
Hughes, who currently plays for the North Sydney Bears, has been training with the Storm in preparation for the upcoming clash. Despite being named in jersey number 27, the versatile forward is eager to make his mark on the field at Belmore Sports Ground.
Having impressed during unofficial trials against Queensland Cup opponents, Hughes is now poised to test his skills against the likes of Dubbo’s Matt Burton, along with Drew Hutchinson and Reed Mahoney from the Bulldogs.
The Canowindra native’s journey to the NRL has been shaped by his time with the CSU Mungoes before making the move to Sydney to pursue his rugby league aspirations. His strong performances for Norths in the 2023 NSW Cup have caught the attention of many in the rugby league community.
Despite a setback with a one-week suspension for a crusher tackle that saw him miss out on the grand final against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Hughes remains determined to showcase his talent and make a lasting impact in the highly competitive NRL arena.
