Cape Town City Advances To Mtn8 Semifinals With Narrow Win

Cape Town City FC has made it to the semifinals of this season’s MTN8 after a tight match against Sekhukhune United. The game took place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, where City managed to edge out their opponents with a scoreline of 1-0.

The victory for the Citizens means they now join Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC in the next round of the competition, with a chance to win the impressive R10 million prize awaiting the tournament champions.

In the match, the excitement was high, especially towards the end, when Cape Town City was awarded a penalty after a foul in the box. Venezuelan player Darwin Gonzalez had an opportunity to score but was thwarted by the crossbar, leaving the score still tied at halftime.

However, the game took a dramatic turn late on when another penalty was awarded due to a handball by Sekhukhune’s Siphesihle Mkhize. This time, Gonzalez stepped up and successfully converted the penalty, securing City’s place in the semifinals.
