Andre Jackson Jr. Milwaukee Bucks Dunk Contest

ALBANY, N.Y. — Andre Jackson Jr., a rising star with Capital Region roots, is set to showcase his athleticism on one of basketball’s biggest stages. The Albany Academy graduate and Amsterdam native will compete in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend in San Francisco, California, on Saturday, February 15.

Jackson, a starter for the Milwaukee Bucks in his second NBA season, is one of four players confirmed for the high-flying event. The 22-year-old forward has quickly made a name for himself with his explosive leaping ability and highlight-reel dunks.

This marks the second consecutive year a Capital Region native has participated in All-Star Weekend festivities. In 2023, Shenendehowa graduate Kevin Huerter competed in the NBA Three-Point Shooting Contest, further cementing the region’s growing reputation as a basketball talent hub.

Jackson’s journey to the NBA began at Albany Academy, where he led the Cadets to multiple championships. His standout performances earned him a scholarship to the University of Connecticut, where he played a pivotal role in the Huskies‘ 2023 NCAA Championship victory.

The NBA Slam Dunk Contest is a fan-favorite event that showcases the league’s most athletic players. Jackson’s participation not only highlights his individual talent but also shines a spotlight on the Capital Region’s basketball community.
