The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Ethen Frank from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) and loaned forward Ivan Miroshnichenko to Hershey, senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick announced on January 10, 2025.

Frank, 26, has been a standout performer for the Bears this season, recording 28 points (20 goals, 8 assists) in 35 games. He leads Hershey in goals and ranks second in the AHL in that category. Frank was also recently selected to the Atlantic Division Roster for the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic. The Papillion, Nebraska native has been a key contributor to Hershey’s back-to-back Calder Cup championships, scoring 30 goals in his rookie season and adding 17 points in last year’s playoff run.

Miroshnichenko, 20, has recorded four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 18 games with the Capitals this season. The Russian forward, selected 20th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft, has shown promise in his limited NHL action, including making his Stanley Cup Playoff debut last season. In 16 games with Hershey this year, he has tallied 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists).

Frank’s recall comes as he continues to build on his impressive AHL resume, which includes 125 points (80 goals, 45 assists) in 161 career games with Hershey. He signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Capitals in March 2023 after a successful collegiate career at Western Michigan University.

Miroshnichenko’s loan to Hershey provides the young forward with an opportunity to gain more playing time and continue his development. The Capitals will look to Frank to provide offensive depth as they navigate the NHL season.
