Car Crash at Manila Airport Kills Two, Injures Several

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A car crashed into the entrance of Manila‘s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Sunday, killing two people and injuring several others, officials reported.
The victims included a man and a young girl, who was reported to be either four or five years old, according to conflicting reports from the Philippine Red Cross and Secretary of Transportation Vivencio Hizon.
The accident occurred when a black SUV crashed through the airport’s outer railing and into the walkway near Terminal 1. Initial reports suggest that the driver accidentally pressed the gas instead of brakes after another car passed in front of him, causing the vehicle to accelerate.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, with dramatic images showing shattered glass and a visibly damaged SUV at the airport’s entrance. Four other individuals were reported injured and are receiving medical treatment.
The Land Transportation Office has suspended the driver’s license for 90 days as an investigation into the incident is underway.
The airport operator, New NAIA Infra Co., urged the public not to speculate and to wait for verified updates. They acknowledged the concern raised by the incident and stressed that further information will be released as it becomes available.
A large presence of emergency personnel surrounded the accident site, where the damaged vehicle was ultimately towed away. Authorities continue to work on the investigation into the crash.
