Cardiff City Women Set For Tough Battle Against The New Saints

The Bluebirds head into the contest on the back of a 3-1 victory over Wrexham in the Adran Trophy last weekend.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” Emma began. “We want to start this year as we ended before Christmas. It’s going to be a tough game, The New Saints are a good team, but we’re really excited for it.

“We have to have that confidence that we’re going to win games. That’s the mentality that we’ve got as a squad at the moment.”

Since signing for the Club, Emma has formed a formidable partnership with Seren Watkins in midfield, with both impressing so far this season.

“I love playing alongside her,” Emma continued. “We just get each other and we know where each other are going to be, so it has been really easy to fit into that role.

“We’ve got a very good squad, so every game, you’re playing for your shirt. That has really pushed the team to keep standards high and keep their position in the squad.”

In the reverse fixture at Cardiff International Sports Campus, the Bluebirds claimed a 3-1 victory, with a brace for Eliza Collie and a goal from Molly Kehoe.

Ahead of this Sunday’s match, Emma concluded: “They’re a very good team and they have everything to play for, just like us. We know that they’re organised and they’ll give us a tough challenge, but those are the games that you want to play in.

“The tougher games and the fight, that pushes us to play better, so we’re really looking forward to that battle.”
