Cardinals Sign WR Simi Fehoko to One-Year Deal

PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals announced Friday they have signed wide receiver Simi Fehoko to a one-year contract. The decision comes as the team looks to bolster its receiving corps for the upcoming season.
Fehoko, 27, stands at 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 218 pounds. Known for his speed, he clocked a 4.44-second 40-yard dash during the 2021 NFL Draft process. A fifth-round selection in the 2021 draft by the Dallas Cowboys, Fehoko has played parts of the last four seasons in the NFL.
In his most recent season with the Los Angeles Chargers, Fehoko appeared in eight games, starting two, where he made six receptions for 106 yards, averaging 17.7 yards per catch. This was his highest offensive playtime, seeing 244 snaps compared to just 67 across his first three seasons combined.
Fehoko’s journey has not been without challenges. After being drafted, he participated in just five games as a rookie and was unable to secure a stable position within the Cowboys’ roster. Following a brief stint on the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad, he was signed by the Chargers during the 2023 season. His performance included catching six passes in a depth role last season, but injuries sidelined him for the last 10 weeks.
Despite the ups and downs, the Cardinals’ coaching staff sees potential in Fehoko. Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon expressed optimism about Fehoko’s ability to contribute this offseason. “He has the physical traits we like, and we believe he can develop into a valuable asset for our offense,” Gannon said.
Fehoko will be looking to carve out a more prominent role on the Arizona roster, competing with returning players and new additions. His combination of size and speed may provide the Cardinals with an added deep threat, crucial for expanding their offensive strategies.
As the offseason progresses and training camp approaches, Fehoko remains a player to watch as he looks to solidify his position. The Cardinals also have other pass-catching options from Stanford, including Michael Wilson and Elijah Higgins, creating a familiar environment for Fehoko as he aims to make an impact.
The Cardinals have not disclosed the terms of Fehoko’s contract, but it is anticipated to be relatively modest given his limited NFL resume. Fans and analysts alike will be eager to see how this signing affects the team’s dynamics on the field.
