Carolina Hurricanes Sign Taylor Hall to Three-Year Contract Extension

RALEIGH, NC — The Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Taylor Hall to a three-year, $9.5 million contract extension on Wednesday. The deal, which takes effect next season, averages $3.17 million annually.
Hall, 33, joined the Hurricanes on January 24 in a trade from the Chicago Blackhawks. He played 31 regular-season games for Carolina, scoring nine goals and adding nine assists, after previously posting nine goals and 15 assists in 46 games with Chicago.
“Now that I have a family, it’s important to be somewhere where I’m comfortable,” Hall said. “This team made me feel welcome from Day 1, and I can’t wait for what the future holds for us.”
General manager Eric Tulsky expressed his excitement about Hall’s fit within the team. “He’s proven to be an outstanding fit for our team, and we are thrilled that he is excited to make Raleigh his home for another three seasons,” Tulsky said in a release.
During this year’s playoffs, Hall contributed one goal and two assists in five games, including a critical goal in Game 5 that helped the Hurricanes come back from a 3-0 deficit against the New Jersey Devils.
In the regular season, Hall has played in a total of 77 games, recording 18 goals and 24 assists. A former No. 1 overall draft pick by the Edmonton Oilers in 2010, Hall has achieved 739 points in 909 career regular-season games.
The Hurricanes are now preparing to face either the Washington Capitals or the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference semifinals after defeating the Devils.
