Carolina Panthers Acquire JuJu Smith-Schuster from Pittsburgh Steelers in Exchange for Donte Jackson
The Carolina Panthers have made a significant move in the NFL off-season by acquiring wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The trade, reported by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, sees Smith-Schuster and a 2024 seventh-round pick heading to Carolina in exchange for cornerback Donte Jackson and a 2024 sixth-round selection.
Smith-Schuster, a former third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has been a key target for the Steelers over the past few seasons, leading the team in receptions in two out of the last three years. With over 4,300 yards and 25 touchdowns in his career, the 27-year-old wideout brings valuable experience and playmaking ability to the Panthers.
Despite a dip in production in 2023, Smith-Schuster remains a reliable pass-catcher known for his ability to create separation on the field. His move to Carolina adds depth to their receiving corps and provides a boost to quarterback Mason Young after a challenging rookie season.
On the other side of the trade, the Steelers gain cornerback Donte Jackson, a 2018 second-round pick who has showcased his skills in 80 games for the Panthers. Jackson, with 14 career interceptions, strengthens Pittsburgh’s defense and adds versatility to their secondary alongside other key acquisitions this off-season.
