Carter Eyes New York Giants Ahead of NFL Draft

New York, NY – With the NFL Draft fast approaching, Penn State edge rusher J.T. Carter appears to have his sights set on becoming a New York Giant. During a recent pre-draft meeting with the team, Carter left many wondering if joining the Giants is his dream scenario, particularly if he is not selected as the number one pick.
The Giants hold the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Carter is considered one of the top prospects alongside other key defensive players. His meeting with the Giants included a nostalgic moment when he shared an image of legendary linebacker Lawrence Taylor, paired with a quote from long-time Giants owner Wellington Mara: “Once a Giant, always a Giant.” This has fueled speculation about Carter’s interest in the franchise.
“It would be an honor to play for such a storied organization and follow in the footsteps of greats like Taylor,” Carter said during an interview following his visit. “I believe the Giants are on the verge of something special, and I want to be part of that journey.”
The Draft’s dynamics could greatly influence Carter’s future. The Cleveland Browns have the second overall pick and are still weighing their options. If they decide to bolster their defense, they may select Carter. However, if the Browns opt for a different direction—such as a quarterback—the chance for Carter to land in New York increases.
Analysts project Carter as the second-most likely selection for the Giants at number three. “If everything falls into place, J.T. Carter could very well become a pivotal part of the Giants’ defense,” said NFL draft expert Emma Johnson. “He possesses the skill set and drive to make an immediate impact.”
As draft day approaches, anticipation continues to build for both the franchise and the player. The Giants are looking to rebound from recent seasons and potentially return to their winning ways, and adding a player of Carter’s caliber could be the key.
