Casper Ruud Stockholm Open Victory

STOCKHOLM, SwedenCasper Ruud made history on Sunday, October 19, 2025, by becoming the first Norwegian to win the Stockholm Open title. He dominated the final, defeating France’s Ugo Humbert 6-2, 6-3 at the Royal Swedish Tennis Hall.

The match lasted just 68 minutes, with Ruud showing exceptional form throughout. He dropped only three points on serve and executed 22 winners against 12 unforced errors. “I really played the best match of the year against you, so I am sorry for that, Ugo,” Ruud remarked after the match.

Ruud’s victory marks his 14th career title and his second of the season, following a win at the ATP Masters 1000 in Madrid. He expressed his delight, saying that winning in Stockholm was a childhood dream for him, especially given the tournament’s rich history with legends like Federer and Nadal.

Humbert, who made it to the final after Holger Rune retired in the semifinals due to an Achilles injury, could not match Ruud’s intensity. The Frenchman reflected on the match, stating, “I cannot remember facing someone playing this well at this level.” Humbert’s performance still earned him a rise to No. 24 in the ATP Live Rankings.

Ruud’s triumph has significant implications for the ATP Race to Turin, where he currently sits 11th, about 740 points shy of the final qualification spot. His strong performance this season has been highlighted by his 11 indoor wins, the most on the ATP Tour.

Looking forward, Ruud plans to participate in the upcoming Swiss Indoors in Basel, where he hopes to build on his momentum. He will face Quentin Halys, with whom he has previously secured victories. Ruud’s performance in Stockholm sets a strong foundation as he aims for a potential return to the Top-10 rankings.
