Cavaliers End Losing Streak with Dominant Win Over Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Cleveland Cavaliers snapped a four-game losing streak, defeating the Utah Jazz 120-91 in a commanding performance on March 23, 2025. Cleveland’s victory was anchored by strong play from Donovan Mitchell, who scored 18 points and recorded 16 assists, and Jarrett Allen, who contributed 11 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks.
Six Cavaliers players scored in double figures, showing a balanced offensive effort. Utah’s leading scorer was Cody Williams with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Walker Kessler also made a significant impact with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
The game began with a competitive edge as Utah managed to rally from an early 12-point deficit to take a 36-34 lead midway through the second quarter, highlighting their resilience. However, the momentum shifted when Cleveland took control, going ahead 44-43 after Mitchell’s pull-up jumper with 2:04 remaining in the first half. The Cavaliers held Utah scoreless for over six minutes, launching a decisive 15-0 run to open the third quarter.
“We really relied on our defense and fast break opportunities tonight,” Mitchell said. “Once we found our rhythm, it was tough for them to keep up.”
Allen was instrumental in the run, scoring twice to extend Cleveland’s lead to 66-45 five minutes into the second half. The Cavaliers excelled in the paint, outscoring the Jazz 60-30, taking advantage of their opportunities inside.
Utah struggled with ball control throughout the game, committing 18 turnovers which resulted in 25 points for Cleveland. Coach Will Hardy acknowledged the issues, stating, “You can’t give a team like Cleveland that many chances, especially when they’re playing well. We need to take better care of the basketball.”
The key moment of the game came after Utah took its final lead at 43-42 on Filipowski‘s reverse layup. In the final two minutes before halftime, Mitchell and Darius Garland connected for three straight baskets, setting the tone for Cleveland’s dominant second half.
Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will conclude their five-game road trip against the Portland Trail Blazers, while the Jazz will host the Memphis Grizzlies. With this victory, Cleveland improves its record to 58-14, maintaining a solid position as they head toward the playoffs.
