Cavs Player Green In Action During A Game

BOSTON — Veteran swingman Danny Green has signed a buyout agreement with the New Orleans Pelicans, paving the way for him to join the Cleveland Cavaliers just days before the team’s recent victory over the Orlando Magic.

Green, who averaged 5.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 50 appearances with the Pelicans, had been expected to contribute wing depth. Despite a solid performance this season, he chose to move on from New Orleans in search of a team better suited for playoff contention.

“My decision to come to the Pelicans was to be part of a playoff team,” Green said. “I think the role I play comes with playing playoff basketball, and being available is crucial. This was the main factor that influenced my move to the Cavaliers.”

Green’s decision was met with mixed reactions, especially from his former teammate Jayson Tatum, who expressed disappointment over Green’s signing with Cleveland, a rival in the Eastern Conference. “Yeah, he did, but I don’t think I can say what he had to say,” Green shared regarding Tatum’s reaction.

At the trade deadline, the Cavaliers opted for better wing depth by acquiring Torrey Craig rather than pursuing Green, who signed a minimum salary contract with Cleveland. Green expressed no hard feelings toward the organization for their decision.

“I’m not surprised,” he said. “They are a good team that knows what they want. They’re the defending champions and understand the dynamics of winning.”

In his debut with the Cavaliers, Green logged six minutes in a decisive win over the Magic. As he acclimates to his new team, the veteran remains optimistic about contributing to what he describes as a winning culture in Cleveland.

“I enjoy being part of a winning culture. Watching the guys gel together and contribute to the team’s success is exciting for a player like me,” Green stated.
