Cavs Celebrate Franchise-Record 16th Consecutive Win Against Grizzlies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Cleveland Cavaliers extended their franchise-best winning streak to 16 games with a 133-124 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night at FedExForum. This win marks an achievementfor the Cavaliers in the ongoing 2024-25 NBA season.
Evan Mobley led the Cavaliers with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Darius Garland contributed 20 points and nine assists. Cleveland improved to an impressive 56-10 record this season, solidifying their position as the league’s top team. Notably, this game was also their 11th consecutive road victory, marking their most prolonged road winning streak in franchise history.
De’Andre Hunter and Jarrett Allen added 18 and 16 points, respectively, for the Cavs, who managed to put the game away early with a commanding lead. Ja Morant tallied a season-high 44 points for the Grizzlies, who saw a four-game winning streak snapped. The game marked Jaren Jackson Jr.’s return after missing five games due to a sprained left ankle; he finished with 13 points, four steals, and two blocks.
“They’re playing with joy,” Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson said. “We’re obviously very talented, skilled, connected, and we play with enthusiasm. We did all the above. It was a stellar performance.”
The Cavaliers led for all but 49 seconds of the game. They began the second quarter with a remarkable 23-9 run, which helped them secure a 75-58 advantage at halftime. Cleveland displayed strong offensive cohesion, connecting on 12 of 29 from three-point range in the first half while Memphis struggled at 4 of 17 from beyond the arc.
The Grizzlies cut the Cavaliers’ lead to 13 at one point during the fourth quarter with a 9-2 run but were quickly halted as the Cavaliers responded with consecutive three-pointers. Cleveland finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field overall.
“Shows how good of a team we are, with or without people,” Mobley said. “When one guy is down, we step up.” The Cavaliers continue to build momentum as they push for a strong finish in the regular season, with future matchups ahead including a Sunday game against the Orlando Magic.
