Cleveland Cavaliers Vs Minnesota Timberwolves Basketball Game

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Cavaliers soared to a commanding 128-107 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 10, 2025, at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, fueled by Evan Mobley‘s standout performance.

The Cavaliers surged ahead early, capitalizing on a shaky start from their opponents. After the first quarter, Cleveland held a 30-12 lead, a margin they maintained as both teams found their rhythm later in the game. Mobley led the Cavs with 28 points, shooting 12-of-19 from the field, along with 10 rebounds and 6 assists.

“We came out strong, and that set the tone for the rest of the game,” Mobley said after the contest. “We played with energy and made sure to challenge them on both ends of the floor.”

Despite an inefficient start, the Cavaliers bounced back, finishing with 30+ points in both the second and third quarters. The Timberwolves struggled to recover from the 17-point deficit they faced. De'Andre Hunter, starting in place of the injured Max Strus, played effective defense against Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, who managed 44 points but needed 28 shots to reach that total.

Hunter, who scored 12 points in his Cavalier debut, received enthusiastic support from the crowd when announced in the starting lineup.

“I just wanted to make the most of my opportunity,” Hunter said. “Playing against a player like Edwards is a challenge, but I focused on my defense.” The Cavaliers received steady scoring support from Donovan Mitchell, who added 23 points, and Darius Garland, contributing 17 points. Jarrett Allen’s presence was felt on the boards, as he grabbed 13 rebounds, aiding the team’s possession game.

Off the bench, Ty Jerome scored 15 points, while Sam Merrill and Jaylon Tyson brought additional energy to the floor for the Cavaliers.

The Timberwolves’ struggle was exacerbated by injuries, missing three key players from their starting lineup. Minnesota, who had Marked a victory with Edwards in their last game, faced adversity with only their offensive leader confirmed to be out due to hip soreness.

“We’re dealing with injuries and it’s tough,” Timberwolves coach Chris Finch acknowledged. “But we’ve got to stay resilient and step up in challenging times.”

The Cavaliers will travel to Canada to face the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, marking their last game before the All-Star break.
