Boston Celtics Game Action 2025

BOSTON, Mass. — The Boston Celtics enter the final stretch of the NBA season with hopes of repeating as champions. With only eight games remaining, the Celtics have won 13 of their last 14 games, positioning themselves favorably for the playoffs.

As the team prepares to face the Memphis Grizzlies for their 75th game of the season, the absence of star guard Jaylen Brown due to a right knee injury poses a challenge. This marks the 16th game Brown has missed this season, potentially impacting the team’s rhythm heading into the postseason.

Brown last played against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, scoring 14 points and contributing two rebounds and four assists. Throughout the season, he has averaged 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists over 59 games.

Despite Brown’s absence, the Celtics remain road favorites with a spread of -5.5, bolstered by a strong 31-7 record away from home. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have also performed well on their court, sporting a 25-12 home record.

A key player for the Celtics is forward Jayson Tatum, who, alongside Brown, forms one of the league’s most formidable duos. Tatum has been a central figure throughout the season, driving the Celtics’ offensive success.

As discussions around roster decisions loom, center Al Horford‘s potential retirement adds another layer of uncertainty. If Horford steps back, the Celtics may need to rely more on center Luka Kornet, who has shown promise this season with average stats of 5.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game.

Kornet’s development could allow him to fill the void, providing consistency the coaching staff seeks during tight playoff matchups. Retaining Kornet may be essential for the Celtics as they strive for long-term success with a core group.

The Celtics aim to secure home-court advantage in the playoffs, and giving Kornet increased minutes may be beneficial as they look to leverage their roster’s full potential, especially given Horford’s limitations in postseason play.

As Boston eyes a championship repeat, their ability to navigate injuries and roster questions will be crucial, making this final stretch essential for establishing momentum.
